Hirono Town is in far northeastern Iwate Prefecture, bordered by Aomori Prefecture to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the east. The town provides access to nature, such as part of the Michinoku Coastal Trail, Taneichi Marine Side Park, and Sanriku Geopark. Visitors can also enjoy the Hironomaki Observatory or the historic Shirataki Shrine. Accomdations include Japanese-style guest houses and camping facilities. Various restaurants serve local dishes.
