Aomori Prefecture

Located in the northernmost region of Japan's Honshu island, Aomori Prefecture offers both tradition and nature and is renowned for its vibrant festivals. The prefectural capital Aomori City hosts the Nebuta Matsuri. The city of Hirosaki boasts a well-preserved Edo-period castle surrounded by cherry blossom parks. the prefecture's coastline offers breathtaking views and charming fishing villages, showcasing the region's maritime heritage. Other cities of interest include Fujisaki and Tsuruta.

For nature enthusiasts there is the Towada-Hachimantai National Park, an expanse of lush forests, volcanic peaks, and the serene Towada Lake, and the Oirase Gorg, one of most beautiful river valleys in Japan, with fast flowing water. The gorge extends over 14 km from the calm Lake Towada.
