Mitane Town city lies in northwestern Akita Prefecture, bordered by the Sea of Japan to the west. Visitors will find easy access to Mt. Bojo, which offers an outstanding view of the Oga Peninsula to the south and Sea of Japan to the west and access to the beautiful Ogi Waterfall. There are also both seaside and mountain camping sites. The town also hosts one of Japan's top sand sculpture displays at Kamayahama Beach during summer.
